Gathering information

There are a few things you can do to get started before the class begins.

Gather together the following information if you are considering starting a new business or modifying your existing business:

  • Survey your target geographical area and see if anyone else is offering similar services. Note their target market, price of services and similarities/differences to what you are planning on doing. For example, if you plan to offer dance classes, look around at ALL of the other businesses who are offering ANY STYLE of dance classes.
  • Jot down some notes about your ideal client/customer. Who are they? Where do they live? How old are they? Why do they need your services or products?
  • Spend some time reflecting on what skill you have to make your business successful? Allow yourself to brainstorm without censoring any of the responses.
